A wave of men on TikTok have started mocking Democratic women with a spin on the pro-choice phrase “my body, my choice,” especially following Vice President Kamala Harris’ recent loss to President-elect Donald Trump.
One TikTok user shared her experience: “Waking up to dozens of men commenting ‘your body MY choice’ & y’all still tell me to just agree to disagree. NO.” Her video showcased various sexist comments, including phrases like “have fun losing your right,” “zip it and make me a sandwich,” and “keep your legs closed.” While it’s unclear what prompted the comments, she had shared more than a dozen videos as the 2024 election results unfolded.
The phrase gained traction after it was shared online by Nick Fuentes, who used it while celebrating Trump’s victory and the potential rollback of reproductive rights under a Republican administration. His post quickly went viral, amassing nearly 25 million views and 29,000 likes, making the catchphrase spread widely across TikTok.
Now, women are posting their reactions, sharing how they’ve received this comment while expressing disappointment over Harris’ loss. In one viral video, a woman reacted tearfully to Trump’s win, garnering 139,000 views, and even called out a man who commented with the phrase and then liked his own, now-deleted comment.
“This sc**bag deada$$ liked his own comment, what!?” she said. “You’re embarrassing, you’re embarrassing. L, L in the chat.” In her original TikTok, she added, “There are women that are going to die because of this, so many of them.”
Other women on TikTok have posted similar reaction videos, all receiving the same “your body, my choice” remark. Fuentes’ post, while widely condemned by many, struck a chord with a subset of supporters. Critics responded by calling him out as a “virgin incel” and mocking him as someone who’d “never been with a woman before.”
Despite the backlash, the catchphrase continues to resonate with certain followers, who leave comments like “MY CHOICE” and “They will never get to make decisions about their own body,” alongside bios reading “CHRIST IS KING.” One commenter even added, “REPEAL THE 19TH,” a reference to the constitutional amendment granting women the right to vote.
