The phrase ‘relationship’ pops up somewhere before you and terms such as cheating, difference of opinions, different future goals and others spring forth to mind, don’t they? Well, many of the times, relationships end due to resentments and disappointments; there is so much a person can take.

Whether they are doing it consciously or subconsciously, your partner will do or say things every now and then that just shut off the romance of your relationship. And in the long run of things, it is mostly these huge turn offs which lead to the end of a relationship. Here are some of them:

  1. Jealousy

This is perhaps one of the oldest turn offs in relationships. Both of these are among one of the biggest reasons for egos and anger to creep into the relationship and crush it.

  1. Selfishness

A relationship involves two people and your selfish nature has the power to end the relationship. If you make life changing decisions without consulting your partner or thinking how they would affect them, you’re not ready for a relationship.

  1. Manipulative and controlling behavior

If you’re playing with your partner’s emotions, it will draw them away from you. The whole purpose of a relationship is to grant your partner some sort of emotional freedom. 1. Taking their love and kindness for granted

People don’t realize what they have until it slips right through their fingers. They don’t realize that if someone loves you with all their heart, it is a rarity. Everyone craves it but not many have it. They forget the true worth of things and end up taking their partner for granted. This can diminish the love between them.

  1. Not giving them time and space

If you don’t give your partner the time and space to grow individuality and don’t respect their privacy, then the love between you too will experience a fatal blow. Sometimes, you have to give your partner the time to do the stuff they want or their individual growth will stunt and they will become dull and not fun to be around.

  1. Not making compromises, just demanding them

Love is all about compromise. Sometimes you have to sacrifice your own happiness to make you partner happy. If you’re too self-absorbed or too self-centered, then maybe a relationship isn’t something you can handle.

  1. Bad listeners

Sometimes, your partner will feel alone and desolated. They will want someone to talk to. They will want someone to hear the cries inside them. They will want someone to embrace the shivering cold that resides inside them. If you can’t provide them what they want when they most need you, then it is obvious that your priorities are messed up. Love isn’t something you hold in high regard.

  1. Ego getting the best of you

Ego is the number one relationship killer. Narcissists have a lot of ego problems and have the most disastrous relationships. Egotistical people can never fulfill the needs of their partner. 1. Giving them the silent treatment

Communication is one of the most important things in a relationship. If you care for your partner, express it. Do you hold dungeons of insecurities inside you? Believe that your partner can free you from them. Do you have a problem with your partner or there is something that is constantly disturbing you about them, talk it out with them.

Without communication, the distance starts to grow between two people and there comes a time when lovers become strangers just because of the anchors they hold within them. These anchors drown them at sea.

  1. Thinking you’re too good

No one is perfect. No one is too good. It’s just a perception that people have in their minds because to some people, you’ll always be average. Making someone feel inferior and telling them that they’re lucky to be In a relationship with you is the worst thing that you can do to the romance.

This society already does a great job at making us feel inferior and unworthy because of its elevated standards. Love and romance are meant to make a person feel that they’re enough for someone.

  1. Anger issues

Anger is a poison. It can make a person lose their originality. If we have a lot of anger inside ourselves, we sometimes say stuff that we weren’t meant to say. Sometimes we go too far and we regret our words. We should always think thrice before saying something. Words have the power to break out wars. A relationship is a far easier thing for them to destroy.

  1. Not making an effort for them

If you love someone, then you shouldn’t just express it. You should take action. You should do stuff that makes the other person believe that you do care for them with all your heart. Bring them flowers and make breakfast for them from time to time. Take interest in what they are interested in. If you don’t, the love and romance will vanish in thin air.
