Over a week ago, a jury ruled overwhelmingly in favor of Johnny Depp in his defamation case against Amber Heard. In response to the actress’s over $8 million judgment, her lawyer publicly stated that she can’t afford to pay and that she would appeal the judgment. After those comments, Heard’s financial situation became the topic of unsubstantiated speculation, and now, a private plane has been spotted carrying Heard.
TMZ reports that the Aquaman actress flew on a private plane to New Jersey to attend a meeting in New York and then returned to DC, where she has been staying nearby. She was accompanied on the trip by her sister and at least two other people, though it’s unclear what exactly the meetings involved.
The actress’s use of Amber Heard’s private plane drew negative headlines and comments on Twitter.
She didn’t exactly set the best example when she claimed she couldn’t afford a legal judgment and then flew privately when most people could not afford that luxury. The trial had been so intensely focused, and so many had developed aggressive opinions that buying a standard plane ticket didn’t seem like the best option. Although she might be able to blend into an airport for hours with a mask, it’s unlikely.
In addition, we do not yet know what the alleged discussions in New York were about. It is not uncommon for studios to send private jets for major celebrities, and she has had a number of well-known roles. There was an easy chance that she could have been on a plane sent by the company. While it doesn’t seem like she has an $8 million disposable income, she has a lot of very famous and very wealthy associates who have plenty of money.
