Barnaby Joyce says that Amber Heard Should be Jailed if She is Guilty of Committing Perjury

Australian politician Barnaby Joyce says that Amber Heard should be jailed if she is guilty of committing perjury during her 2015 visit to the country.

Just a month after losing her intense legal battle against ex-husband Johnny Depp is highly possible that Amber might face another court trial.

Currently, an investigation is going on into her criminal activity in Australia. Reports claim that in 2015, Heard went to Queensland and illegally took her two dogs with her.

The Rum Diary actress visited Johnny in Australia when he was shooting for the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 5 and took their Yorkshire Terriers, Pistol and Boo, with her without declaring them to the customs.

By doing so, Amber broke Australia’s strict quarantine and biosecurity laws; the country has a strict 10-day quarantine rule for pets coming in. Consequently, the actress was charged with unlawful smuggling of dogs and faced a trial in court.

When the authorities came to know about her doing, the former couple was asked to send the dogs back to America within a period of 72 hours.

Later the actress pleaded guilty in the Australian court and her lawyer Jeremy Kirk told the judge that she didn’t do it on purpose. He said Amber had no intention of deceiving the authorities or breaking any rule. Still, it was negligence on her staff’s part.

He told the court that his client Amber thought that Johnny’s staff had taken care of the paperwork, but the pets’ documents were somehow skipped.

Recently the former Deputy Prime Minister has spoken to Sunrise and called out the Aquaman star for lying to the court after committing a crime.

‘Those dogs, when they came in, there were a lot of documents that were signed that said there were no animals there. And it now looks like Ms Heard has allegedly not told the truth and it is perjury,’ he said while talking to hosts Natalie Barr and Michael Usher.

Then he said that Australia should have demanded Heard’s extradition just like the US is now seeking the extradition of Julian Assange, the WikiLeaks founder who’s facing spying charges.

“If they want Julian Assange, well we’ll take Amber and possibly Johnny and they can come over to Australia and spend some time at Her Majesty’s convenience.”

He said that it is highly likely that something like that could ever happen, but he still believes that’s the right thing to do.

“It really annoys me … when they say they wouldn’t extradite them if they perjured themselves,” He added. “Well, they put at risk our biosecurity. When they say things like, ‘Ah we’d never do that for this’, well what would you do it for? They broke the law.”

When host Natalie Barr asked Joyce about what could happen, he replied,

“Well it’s up to the Americans. I suppose the US want to show the purity of it.”

“They are insisting on getting Julian Assange so it’s fair enough that any person who’s perjured themselves, committed a crime in Australia, should go back to Australia to serve their time because we’ve got to be fair dinkum and straight with both these things don’t we?”

“Let’s see how that goes. Maybe if we get them back in court, we can have a sequel.” He concluded.
