Emma Heming Willis updated fans about the actor’s health condition, who retired from acting after his diagnosis last year.
The 44-year-old model and entrepreneur recently commented on a feature documentary from Max Lugavere about dementia battle of his mother and opened up about the difficulties of her husband’s treatment, who’s battling the same disease.
“Max chronicles his mother Kathy’s battle with dementia while he educates himself on everything he can do to help her. His love for his mother is powerful. His motivation to find answers from leading health experts is inspiring, and then be so gracious to share that information is a true blessing,” Emma said on her Instagram.
Adding that the treatment options are slim, she continued, “It would be an absolute disservice if this documentary is not on a screen near us soon. Thank you Max for being so brave and vulnerable to share the journey and spotlighting the importance of brain health. When you live the world of dementia you know that options are slim. But some won’t take that lying down which is how change is made and I got to witness the beauty in that last night.”
Max commented on Emma’s post and wrote, “You’re a warrior, and I’m so proud to be in this fight with you.”
Bruce Willis’ ex-wife, Demi Moore, also commented on Heming’s post and wrote, “Looking forward to see it!”
Earlier this year, Bruce Willis’ family shared a new painful update on the actor’s condition and diagnosis, revealing he was diagnosed with untreatable frontotemporal dementia (FTD).
“Our family wanted to start by expressing our deepest gratitude for the incredible outpouring of love, support, and wonderful stories we have all received since sharing Bruce’s original diagnosis. In the spirit of that, we wanted to give you an update about our beloved husband, father, and friend since we now have a deeper understanding of what he is experiencing,” Rumer Willis wrote on her Instagram.
“Since we announced Bruce’s diagnosis of aphasia in spring 2022, Bruce’s condition has progressed and we now have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia (known as FTD). Unfortunately, challenges with communication are just one symptom of the disease Bruce faces. While this is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis.”
The Willis family thanked all the fans and well-wishers for their love and gratitude and requested prayers.
The family, including the star’s ex-wife Demi Moore, second wife, Emma Hemming Willis, and his daughters – Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah shared a complete statement regarding Bruce’s new diagnosis and posted it on The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration‘s website.
“FTD is a cruel disease that many of us have never heard of and can strike anyone. For people under 60, FTD is the most common form of dementia, and because getting the diagnosis can take years, FTD is likely much more prevalent than we know. Today there are no treatments for the disease, a reality that we hope can change in the years ahead,” they wrote.
“As Bruce’s condition advances, we hope that any media attention can be focused on shining a light on this disease that needs far more awareness and research.”
They continued, “Bruce always believed in using his voice in the world to help others, and to raise awareness about important issues both publicly and privately. We know in our hearts that – if he could today — he would want to respond by bringing global attention and a connectedness with those who are also dealing with this debilitating disease and how it impacts so many individuals and their families.”
Last year in March, the blended family of the Hollywood icon shared that he was stepping away from his acting career because he was going through aphasia – a brain condition that has impacted his cognitive abilities.
“To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family, we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities.”
“As a result of this and with much consideration, Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him.” His daughters shared on Instagram.
The announcement came as a shock to his fans, and they wished the actor a smooth recovery.
The family also requested fans to pray for his health in their joint Instagram post. They said this is a difficult time for them, and they want people to respect their privacy.
“This is a really challenging time for our family, and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion, and support. We are moving through this as a strong family unit and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him.”
The post was concluded on a positive note saying,
“As Bruce always says, ‘Live it up,’ together, we plan to do just that.”
Prayers for the speedy recovery of the Hollywood icon. Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
