Margaret Qualley and Jack Antonoff filed for divorce on Friday, October 30, 2026, according to New York Supreme Court records obtained exclusively by Page Six. Qualley was listed as the plaintiff. The filing itself was joint.

Nearly three years of marriage, ended with paperwork that both of them signed off on.

Details of Margaret Qualley’s Divorce Filing

Page Six reported that the pair also filed a settlement agreement, which the court is still processing. That detail matters more than the plaintiff label. A settlement already on file means the arguing, if there was any, happened somewhere other than a courtroom.

A source told People that the couple worked out the terms in advance so the filing could stay amicable. “This is a mutual decision,” the source said, describing it as an uncontested, mutually agreed divorce. The same source told People the two share a deep affinity for each other and will stay lifelong friends.

New York State requires one spouse to be named plaintiff and the other defendant. Just Jared noted that the labels are a formality of the state’s system, not a sign of who wanted out.

Jack Antonoff spoke publicly about the divorce, while Margaret Qualley has not.

What Led to Their Separation

Margaret Qualley and Antonoff met at a party in the summer of 2021. News that the Bleachers frontman had proposed broke in May 2022. He asked in Paris. They married in August 2023.

Antonoff talked about her on The Howard Stern Show as recently as April, saying that meeting her made him picture things he had never pictured before, marriage among them.

Then he showed up alone to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding. Page Six reported that Antonoff, 42, told fellow guests about a “tiff” with Qualley, 32. He reportedly said he did not want to put up a front while they were having trouble.

On July 8, Page Six confirmed the separation. A source told the outlet there was no dramatic reason behind it and dismissed social media rumors of infidelity. The same source described a beautiful and loving relationship, adding: “Sometimes, these things just don’t work.”

Another source gave Page Six a less tidy picture. That person said Antonoff could be particular about how things were done, and that Qualley did not always feel her view was heard or given equal weight.

Us Weekly went further, reporting that Qualley was the one who initiated the breakup. According to Us Weekly, the couple had still been trying to make the marriage work a few months earlier. The outlet said Qualley eventually felt she needed to step back.

Busy Schedules and Distance

Us Weekly named two factors in Qualley’s decision: their busy schedules, and distance. Neither is a scandal. Both are relentless.

Antonoff is a Grammy-winning producer who tours with his own band and works in studios on other people’s records. Margaret Qualley is an actor whose new romance film debuted on streaming this month, per Just Jared. Two careers like that do not pause for each other. They overlap, sometimes, if the calendars cooperate.

Distance rarely kills a marriage in one blow. It works slowly. Small things stop getting said because the other person is on a plane, or on set, or asleep in a different time zone. A complaint about feeling unheard, the kind one Page Six source described, is exactly what grows in that gap. Nobody shouts. One person just quietly stops expecting to be listened to.

The tiff comment fits the same pattern. Antonoff did not pretend at a very public wedding. He said there was trouble. That is honest, and it is also what a couple sounds like when the hard conversations have been happening in fragments, between flights.

Antonoff, for his part, has kept performing the songs he wrote about Qualley. Earlier this week he described that experience as still really beautiful, according to Page Six. Just Jared reported he has explained why he will keep singing them.

A man still singing the love songs. A woman who, according to Us Weekly, decided she needed to step back. Both filing the same papers on the same Friday.

The court has the settlement now. What it says about their New York life, and how they split it, has not been made public.
