Meagan Good Reflects on Marriage with Jonathan Majors in New Interview

Meagan Good says her first year of marriage to Jonathan Majors has been anything but the hardest.

Speaking on the October 28 episode of the “Angie Martinez IRL” podcast, the 45-year-old actress told host Angie Martinez that the past few months in particular have been “really amazing.” Us Weekly reported the interview, in which she also spoke about her divorce from author DeVon Franklin.

She called it fun. Twice.

Good pushed back on the old line that year one is the toughest. “They say it’s the hardest,” she said, before explaining that for her and Majors, 37, it had gone the other way. Good and Majors have been together since 2023. They married in March 2025, so this interview lands roughly seven months after their first anniversary.

Everything here comes from Good’s side of the table.

Her description of the marriage is short and blunt. The two of them are “locked in,” she said. She also called it “us against the world.”

What the Divorce From DeVon Franklin Taught Her

Meagan Good was married to Franklin from 2012 to 2022. Ten years.

She did not go into detail about why it ended, and she did not criticize him. What she talked about instead was herself. “I know I’m a fire wife now,” she joked, according to Us Weekly. Then the joke got serious. She said she “learned a lot about myself,” including about traumas from her past and the things that shaped how she moved and what she believed.

Faith ran through all of it. Good described herself as a Christian through and through, but said her relationship with God changed. She put it plainly: she “became less religious, I guess you could say.”

She told Martinez about a moment of prayer where she asked, “Lord, am I getting it right?” The answer she heard was two words. “It’s OK.” Good said it hit her that she was neither getting it right nor getting it wrong. Getting there was not gentle. Good recalled a period when everything felt questionable, and she admitted saying, “I’m mad at you, Lord. I don’t trust you anymore.”

Anger at God is not the usual material of a celebrity marriage interview.

Good offered it anyway, and tied it directly to the wife she says she is now.

Friendship First, Then “Us Against the World”

Good and Majors were friends before they were married. She was clear that marriage changed that friendship anyway. “It’s just different,” she said.

Her explanation was that the love was already there from the start. What grew was the friendship, which she said has become “really, really amazing and a lot of fun.” She summed it up as “being married to your best friend.” Plenty of couples say they married their best friend. Meagan Good’s version is more specific. She is describing the friendship getting better after the wedding, not just surviving it.

Love was the given. Liking each other was the part still being built.

Her remarks point to a pattern that shows up after long first marriages. Someone who spent a decade in one partnership often walks into the next one with a list of what went wrong. Good walked in with a list of what was wrong in her. Those are very different starting points.

Where Meagan Good Stands Now

Good said her new understanding of herself made her “a better wife.” She also spoke about Majors directly. She said she feels “so in tune with” him and his needs, and with who he really is at the core. Her language about that role was old-fashioned and deliberate. She talked about asking “how can I be of service to him” and how she can “cover him” as a wife. Some will read that as devotion.

Others will read it as a woman who already did ten years of marriage and decided exactly what she wanted the next one to look like.

Good’s own framing points to the second. The service, in her telling, comes after the self-examination, not instead of it.

She is 45, a little over a year into her second marriage, and talking about it as if the hard part already happened somewhere else.

Neither Good nor Majors has said what year two looks like.
