Reese Witherspoon Officially Files for Divorce from Estranged Husband, Jim Toth

Reese Witherspoon has filed for divorce from her estranged husband, Jim Toth, one week after announcing their split.

As reported by the Daily Mail, “The Legally Blonde star, 47, cited irreconcilable differences as the reason behind their split in court documents obtained by TMZ.”

“The documents were filed in Nashville, Tennessee, where the couple lives with their 10-year-old son Tennessee.”

“The documents reveal the couple agreed to a prenuptial agreement in March 2011. Reese indicated the contract was valid, ‘providing “adequate and sufficient provisions” for their assets and debts,’ TMZ reports.”

The divorce has been filed in Davidson County, and as per the law, Reese and Jim have to attend the mandatory parenting classes, and they have 60 days to present the certificate of completion in court.

The filing comes a week after the Big Little Lies alum announced the end of their marriage only two days before their 12th wedding anniversary.

“We have some personal news to share,” Reese announced the news via her Instagram account.

“It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness, and mutual respect for everything we have created together.”

She added, “Our biggest priority is our son and our entire family as we navigate this next chapter. These matters are never easy and are extremely personal. We truly appreciate everyone’s respect for our family’s privacy at this time.”

An insider close to the star revealed to PEOPLE that it was very difficult for her to accept that she and Toth are two very different people.

“They’ve been spending less and less time together while she was working,” the source said, adding that Reese is headstrong and focused on her work.
