This Nurse Leaves her Hospital Job to Drive 18-Wheeler

This story comes from Canada, where a woman who worked as a nurse for almost 16 years gets frustrated and quits her job to drive an 18-wheeler with her boyfriend.

Tough Decisions

Leah Gorham is a 42-year-old from Canada who has worked as a licensed practical nurse, taking care of post-surgery patients. She loved her job until it became frustrating to handle due to the pandemic and started taking a toll on her well-being.

After 16 years, she didn’t see her job taking her anywhere and decided to quit to join her boyfriend.

While speaking to CNN, Leah said:

“I was just going to regret my career being where it was and not being able to advance was really maddening to me,”

“So I just I needed to do something else.”

“This nursing problem has been there my entire career,”

“The pandemic is just showing the real stress of the situation.”

Made for Each Other

Her boyfriend is an independent truck driver and welcomed Leah. After taking a 12-week course, she officially became a truck driver and now drives an 18-wheeler with her boyfriend.

Leah spoke about how she and her boyfriend switch places while on the open road:

“Eventually, we’re going to be trading off like, I’m going to sleep when he’s driving, but right now, while I’m still training … it’s almost like we’re one independent super-driver,”

Leah also spoke about not wanting to earn a lot of money; she just wants a steady life with happy moments shared with her boyfriend. She said:

“What we’re interested in is sort of having the freedom and not pushing that real hard and still living,”

“It’s sort of just a balance. We don’t need to be rich over this.”

When asked about how different driving an 18-wheeler is, she said:

“It is not anything like my standard car,”

“There’s a lot of hazards involved in it. I find a lot of people are unaware how difficult it really is.”

We think Leah followed her heart. One should always do what their hearts tell them. And if she’s happy and content with it, that’s all you need in life! More power to you, Leah!

You have to do what makes you happy and satisfied in life. Avoid the extra stress. I am feeling the same way.
