You should fall in love with that person and you must never let that person go.
You should only love someone who actually works hard to earn your love. You should love someone who doesn’t pick and choose the parts of you to love. You should love someone who loves you wholeheartedly without reservations and without any conditions. You should love someone who doesn’t see your flaws and imperfections as setbacks. You should love someone who doesn’t see your quirks as points for irritation and inconvenience. You should love someone who doesn’t feel annoyed at the thought of running errands for you. You should love someone who doesn’t feel discouraged at the idea of having to help you up whenever you stumble and fall in life. You should love someone who willingly inherits all of your emotional baggage; someone who willingly inherits all of your scars, problems, anxieties, stresses, and worries. You should love someone who wants to be with you not just an idealized version of you. You should love someone who is patient and understanding of the fact that you are an imperfect being who has imperfect thoughts and who does things imperfectly.
You should fall in love with that person and you must never let that person go.
You should love the person you know would never ever quit or give up on you. This is a person who would never leave your side no matter how difficult things get. This is the person who would never ever make you feel like you are less of a person than you actually are. You should love a person who is going to protect your feelings and your emotions. This is a person who is going to protect your happiness; a person who is never going to be the source of your pain and disappointment. You should love a person who wants to be there for you during your most vulnerable moments and your most difficult trials. This is a person who wants to be of assistance to you whenever necessary; but this person also understands your need to be your own self. You should love a person who would want to protect you from all of the harms in this world, but would still provide you with the space and freedom that you need to live your own individual life.
You should love a person who you know is going to stick around for the long haul, and not just when things are easy.
You should love a person who makes you feel comfortable in your own skin. This is a person who would never pressure or compel you into becoming a person you’re not comfortable with being. This is a person who would never force you to act in ways that make you feel totally uncomfortable. This person would never force you to engage in unnatural behavior. You should love a person who makes you feel comfortable with being honest 24/7. This person shouldn’t make you feel afraid of opening up. This person should never make you feel like you ever have to censor yourself. You should love a person who gives you the space and freedom to actually speak your mind and demand for the things that you want most in this world. This is the person who encourages you to cry and lash out whenever you’re frustrated. You should love a person who can tell how you’re feeling just by looking at you without you even having to say anything. This is a person who truly understands you and who really knows the things that make you tick.
And once you do find that person; that person you can freely and openly fall in love with, make sure that you do whatever it takes to keep that person in your life. Make sure that you also put in the work that that person needs from you to make things last. There are few things in this world that are more devastating than losing a love that was right for you just because you didn’t put in the effort that was necessary to make things work for the both of you. Once you grab a hold of a person who loves you in the way that you have always wanted to be loved, then you can’t let that person go. Don’t let that person slip.
A love like that is rare to find and it would be a shame for you to take it for granted. Love someone who is actually going to work for your love. But also make sure that you work for that person’s love as well. Because at the end of the day, that’s what love is all about. It’s about the healthy exchange of intimacy and affection. It’s all about the give and take. You should always be willing to give just as much love as you’re getting.
