Have you ever been in an “emotionless relationship”?
It happens. Two people can fall in love with one another, get into a relationship, and then eventually, the feelings fade into nothingness. And when that happens, they break up. They fall out of love. It’s unfortunate, but it still does happen. And the reasons why you could potentially fall out of love with your partner could vary. It’s a case-to-case kind of thing. It really depends on the nature of the relationship and the personalities of the two people who are involved in it. But still, the subtle pain of realizing that you’re in a relationship with someone who you aren’t genuinely in love with can sting. It can feel like you’ve somehow lost your footing on a steep slope, and you’re fighting like hell to keep yourself from stumbling down completely. But as fate would have it, you fell and you stumbled all the way done into a feeling of nothingness. There are some cases where people just really outgrow their relationships. And it’s no one’s fault at this point. It’s just bad timing. The situation is unfortunate but the circumstances are unchangeable. And the helplessness can help add to the devastation of the whole thing too. You can’t help but feel the way that you feel. And you can’t force yourself to fall in love with a person you’re just not meant to love. It’s as simple as that. That’s the thing about these intense feelings, you can never really control them. In fact, you are at their mercy.
However, just because you’ve fallen out of love with your partner, you shouldn’t take it to mean that you aren’t any more concerned about them than you were. You shouldn’t think that they no longer play significant roles in your life. And you don’t even have to resort to blaming anyone. Sometimes, it’s just really nobody’s fault. There’s nothing that either you or your partner could have done to trigger or remedy the situation. It just happened and it was beyond anyone’s control. And when you do find yourself falling out of love with your partner, it’s very important for you to come to terms with the reality of the situation. You can’t force yourself to fall back in love with them if it’s not meant to be. And you shouldn’t be patronizing them by staying in a relationship where the love is one-sided and unrequited. You owe it to your partner to tell them the truth and to let them go.
But again, that all stems from being able to figure out how you really feel on the inside. You have to know for sure how you’re feeling before you make any decisions about the future of your relationship. So if you want to really be sure if you’re falling out of love with your partner, you just have to read the 4 signs that are listed on here. If a lot of these actually apply to your case, then you know what to do. You have to be mature enough to talk things out to your partner and explain the entire situation and then you have to let go. Here are 4 subtle signs that your feelings of love for your partner aren’t real.
1. You talk but you don’t really communicate.
There is a substantial difference between talking and communicating. When you talk, you are merely throwing words at one another. But when you communicate, you are genuinely making an effort to see things from each other’s eyes. You are trying to forge and strengthen a connection between the two of you. You are looking to gain a better understanding of how your partner thinks and feels.
2. You feel caught in a constant state of irritability whenever you’re together.
It’s a different story when your partner does something occasionally that irritates you. That doesn’t necessarily mean that you aren’t in love anymore. But it’s a separate thing entirely when the irritability becomes a constant facet of your lives together. Being in love shouldn’t irritate you at all.
3. You can’t really envision a future where the both of you are still together in love.
That’s really the whole point of staying together, isn’t it? You should be able to see a future where the both of you are still in love with one another. But if you just can’t bring yourself to envision that kind of future for the both of you, then why are you even still together at this point?
4. You still feel alone and isolated even when you’re together all of the time.
It’s perfectly possible to be in a relationship with someone and still feel all alone. And if that’s the case in your relationship, then you are definitely not in love with your partner. Now it’s true when they say that a relationship isn’t supposed to give you a sense of completion; and that it isn’t supposed to define who you are. However, a loving relationship shouldn’t be making you feel alone either.
