Anna Wintour and Beau Bill Nighy Arrived Arm-in-Arm at 2023 Met Gala

The Vogue Editor seemed to have confirmed her romance with the Pirates of the Caribbean actor by arriving arm-in-arm with him at the 2023 Met Gala on Monday Evening.

The couple, both 73, made a cozy red carpet debut at the biggest fashion night of the year.

“I have incredible support from so many people, and everybody loves The Met. Everybody turns out to support the amazing work that Andrew Bolton does,” Wintour told the reporters in a red carpet interview.

For the evening, Wintour stunned in a multi-colored patterned Chanel couture ensemble, while Nighy looked smart in a dark-colored suit.

The British journalist, who has been hosting the Met Gala for the last thirty years, first sparked dating rumors with the Love Actually star in the summer of 2021 after they were spotted enjoying several romantic dinners in Rome, Italy.

“On one occasion, the pair was seen wrapping their arms around each other before sitting down to enjoy an al-fresco meal. And during another dinner, Bill was photographed gifting Anna roses,” wrote Daily Mail.

The romance reportedly came after Wintour ended her 16-year relationship with her husband, Shelby Bryan, in October 2021.

The former couple tied the knot in 2004 after Anna split from her first husband, David Shaffer.

On the other hand, Nighy was romantically linked to the British actress Diana Quick with whom he welcomed a daughter, Mary Nighy, in 1984. The pair separated in 2008 after staying together for nearly 28 years.

The fashion’s biggest night was attended by all the big names in the industry, including Kim Kardashian, Anne Hathaway, Paris Hilton, Cara Delevingne, Dua Lipa, Shawn Mendes, Lana Del Rey, Doja Cat, Harry Styles, Tom Holland, Bad Bunny, Ashley Graham, Jennifer Lopez, Gal Gaddot, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, and many others.

The theme of this year was Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty – to honor the late creative director of Chanel, who passed away in 2019 at the age of 85.

Lagerfeld’s famous pet cat, Choupette, was also invited to the event.

The decision to honor the late fashion icon has met with controversy because of his offensive remarks against the #MeToo movement, racism, and speaking against same-sex marriages.

“I’m against it for a very simple reason: In the 60s they all said we had the right to the difference. And now, suddenly, they want a bourgeois life,” Karl told Vice of his opposition to same-sex marriage concept in 2010.

“It’s difficult to imagine—one of the papas at work and the other at home with the baby. How would that be for the baby? I don’t know. I see more lesbians married with babies than I see boys married with babies. And I also believe more in the relationship between mother and child than in that between father and child.”

While half of the world is currently drooling at their favorite celebrities’ choice of outfits for the ceremony, the other half is slamming the event for honoring the late misogynistic fashion designer.

“Karl Lagerfeld was a racist, fatphobic misogynist and I’m fuming this night of fashion is all about him. I just want to enjoy the looks! F**k Karl Lagerfeld,” one wrote on Twitter.

“I’m losing my mind that the #MetGala this year is about honouring Karl Lagerfeld but nearly everyone given an invite to attend he would never have wanted them to honour him. Fatphobic, racist, islamophobic, sexist, rape apologist etc. That dead man hated everyone,” a second said.

“i will not be watching the met gala bc why the fuck would they chose a karl lagerfeld theme?? that man was horribly fatphobic, racist, misogynistic, and completely discredited the me too movement. why, in this day and age, would he be an acceptable man to celebrate,” a third tweeted.
