When you fall in love with someone, you’re always going to have to open up yourself to that person. When you want to welcome love into your life, you really need to allow yourself to become more vulnerable to someone special. You’re always going to have to take a chance if you’re going to fall in love. You’re always going to have to risk your emotional stability; you’re always going to have to risk getting hurt.
And that’s just how love really is. It’s not something that you can acquire for yourself with absolute certainty. You’re not always going to be guaranteed a favorable outcome. And that’s why you really have to make it a point to be careful of who you open yourself up to. Yes, as much as you would want to believe that falling in love is as simple as just picking someone and then getting things over with, it doesn’t work like that. There are just some people in this world who aren’t worthy of trust.
There are some people in this world who you SHOULDN’T be opening up to because they’re not really interested in loving you at all. They don’t really care about what you have to say. They just want to make a story out of it. They’re just fishing for drama. They’re bored and they’re treating you as temporary entertainment. And you wouldn’t want that for yourself. You wouldn’t want to have your feelings and emotions exploited in such a manner. When you open yourself up to someone, you want it to be for real. You want to fall in love with someone who would never hurt you.
You would want to fall in love with someone who would always treat you right. You always want to open yourself up to someone who would never hold what you have to say against you. When you open up to someone, you want to make sure that the odds aren’t stacked against you; that you’re opening yourself up to someone who would never take advantage of you.
When you open yourself up to someone, and you get hurt. You might find it difficult to ever open yourself up to anyone ever again. You might find it difficult to take a chance on love in the future. And this is what that’s going to look like. It’s going to be you looking at prospective mates and knowing that they frighten the hell out of you even though they haven’t really done anything wrong to you. It’s you looking at them and acknowledging that they haven’t really given you any reason to fear them; but you fear the future all the same.
It’s going to be you wanting to take things as slow as possible because you don’t want to be getting ahead of yourself; but at the same time, you’re scared because you don’t think that the people you’re with would ever be patient enough to tolerate that from you. It means always being scared of getting into whatever kind of relationships that are going to be presented to you; it’s going to be scare of all of the opportunities that are going to get thrown your way. It means that you’re going to go through a lot of anxiety and nervousness whenever you are forced to confront how you feel about someone.
You know that you have very strong desires and passions; but you’re desperate to suppress them because you don’t want to be putting yourself in a position of vulnerability ever again. You don’t want to put yourself in a position to get hurt once more by someone you live. It’s going to be you putting on a brave face and a full smile even though on the inside, you’re as frightened as you have ever been in your life. It’s going to be you wanting to take a stand on love, but you know that you’ve been in that position once before and you ended up betraying yourself with your own emotions.
Sure, you always want to be opening yourself up to the idea of love. You always want to be open to the possibility of being vulnerable to someone who would never take advantage of you or betray you. You always want to believe in the idea of love; and how you are always going to be deserving of it. However, you also have to realize that at the end of the day, you’re all you really have. You are the only one in this world who you can really rely on to have your back. You are the only one who is worthy of your own complete trust. And that’s why you always have to be careful when you’re dealing with other people.
