Black Couple Gives Birth to Blonde, Blue-eyed Child Who They Call a ‘Miracle Baby’

A black Nigerian couple gave birth to a beautiful blonde, blue-eyed baby girl and called it a ‘miracle baby.’

Angela and Ben Ihegboro, a Nigerian couple living in London, UK, welcomed baby Nmachi in 2010. The couple already had two children who looked exactly like their parents. However, their third sibling looked very different from the rest of the family, and everyone was super surprised.

“She’s a miracle baby,” said Angela. “But still, what on Earth happened here?”

After her birth, the Ihegboros didn’t understand what had happened and sat in the hospital staring at their miracle baby for hours.

“The first thing I said was, ‘What the flip?’” said Ben. “We both just sat there after the birth staring at her for ages — not saying anything.”

“Of course, she is mine. My wife is true to me,” the customer service adviser said. “Even if she hadn’t been, the baby still wouldn’t look like that.”

When the couple discussed the issue with their doctors, they were told Nmachi was not an albino kid, even though a subsequent report claimed they didn’t completely rule out the possibility.

Although they didn’t have a clear-cut answer to why their third child looked totally different than the rest of her family, Nmachi’s parents discussed the matter with the doctors, and they were able to make three possible theories or logical explanations for how something like that could possibly happen.

According to the New York Post, the three theories were – baby Namchi was possibly a result of a rare gene mutation, and if that was the case, it is highly likely she would pass on the gene to her kids, and they too would be white.

The second theory was that she could be a result of long-dormant genes passed onto her parents, Angela and Ben, by their predecessors without being active until her birth.

The third possibility was although Nmachi was not an ‘outright albino,’ she might “have some kind of mutated version of the genetic condition — and that her skin could darken over time,” per The Post.

“She doesn’t look like an albino child anyway,” Ben told The Sun. “Not like the ones I have seen back in Nigeria or in books. She just looks like a healthy white baby.”
