The Marry Poppins star suffered minor injuries after crashing his Lexus into a gate in Malibu.
According to PEOPLE, “The 97-year-old actor was driving a silver 2018 Lexus LS 500 when the vehicle slid into the structure, according to authorities. The area has been experiencing record rains.”
TMZ reported that Van Dyke was treated by the paramedical staff at the scene and was not transported to the hospital.
Sources close to the actor say that he suffered a concussion and a bleeding nose and mouth.
According to TMZ, the accident occurred due to heavy rainfall, as a result of which the actor lost control of his vehicle and smashed it into a gate.
The Night at the Museum alum was last seen on the small screen in February, where he performed on the season 9 premiere of the mystery singing competition, The Masked Singer.
“I had never even seen the show when they asked me. So I checked it out and it looked like a lot of fun,” he told PEOPLE. “I was positive they wouldn’t be able to guess who I was. And I was right!”
Speaking of his performance in a recent interview with Yahoo, the icon said,
“Oh, it was so funny. It was the weirdest experience. They have a great crew there, and they took good care of me, but the minute I got out of the car, they covered my head!”
“I never got to meet or see anybody! I’m going to have to go back and meet them in person, because nobody ever saw me and I never saw them. It was weird.”
During the show, the Bye Bye Birdie star performed Frank Sinatra’s When You’re Smiling. When panelist, Nichole Scherzinger found out that Gnome was actually Dick Van Dyke, she became overwhelmed with emotions and said it was an honor to watch him perform on the show.
After he revealed his identity, host Nick Cannon said, “This is the most seasoned and most decorated we’ve had on our show, ladies and gentlemen.”
