Recently a woman posted a video on her TikTok account with her husband, to whom she’s been married for fifteen years.

Alicia Mccarvell, a plus-size woman from Canada who’s also a body-positive influencer, posted a cute transformation video with her husband Scott Mccarvell as they got ready to attend a wedding.

However, she received many negative comments on her video, which was viewed over thirty million times. Hundreds of people criticized her for her weight and told her that she was not fit for her husband.

Some people even called out her husband and said maybe the wife is rich, that’s why he is still with her.

“Umm, he wants your money.” Another wrote.

“Sugar mama, otherwise I don’t understand, and here I can’t even get a text back like seriously.” A third user commented.

“Love is definitely blind.” A fourth penned.

Mccarvell has now responded to her haters and posted a new video in which the influencer has addressed society’s trash beauty standards and called out people who believe that nobody can fall in love with a person who’s not up to their standards of weight.

She also shared that a ‘thin’ lady texted her husband a few months ago and asked him out by saying that he should be with someone ‘fit’ like her, not someone the opposite like his wife.

“I’m undervaluing myself, and she is overvaluing herself. We have both been made to believe that our value lies in our body,” she said.

“When it comes to what my husband values, how well her body fits into society’s beauty standards is not on the top of his list. He values my humor, commitment, love, and caring heart.”

“None of these things that he values about me change if my body changes.” She continued. “So when someone slides into his DMs leading with their body first, he’s asking, “But what else?”

“Because he, like I, know that people’s values don’t lie in how well their bodies fit into society’s trash beauty standards. And I get it, if this is the way you think, it’s the way you’ve been taught. However, it is your responsibility to unlearn it.”

Alicia has 5.1 million followers on her TikTok, and after receiving backlash from several users, her supportive followers came to her rescue.

“I see two stunning people in love with each other and themselves and I’m living for it,” a person commented on her recent video.

“I am so sorry for the amount of hate you have to deal with. Truly unbelievable,” said another.

Another person wrote, ‘The people who are mad are projecting their own insecurities.

“I honestly can’t believe how many jealous and spiteful people are in these comments. Having muscles/being fit doesn’t make him a better person than her. In my opinion, he’s the lucky one, she obviously brings so much fun/happiness to their relationship.”

“These comments are not it, you’re gorgeous and deserve to be treated like a queen.” A fellow TikToker commented.

  1. I believe beauty is on the inside not outside. The love and support you guys have for each means more than any physical looks, besides y’all look wonderful together. You can see where you complement each other. He is your strength where you are weak and you are his strength where he is weak. Don’t let little minded people ruin y’all’s happiness.

  2. It is disgusting to say that anyone would say this to you, much less think it. Every woman that wrote those cruel comments couldn’t or can’t hold a candle to the woman u are. I’m so ashamed that any real WOMAN would stay those things to u, and we know why they don’t have a real person in their lives. Becuz they are a shallow individual SMH. Honey don’t fret over the haters, that only means their jealous. Congrats to u and ur hubby !! Keep living ur lives by ur standards and commitments not the crazy screwed up world we live in!!

  3. It is purely disgusting that society thinks you have to be thin to have a nice body. It is even more disgusting someone can go out of their way to try and crush someone else, while they don’t even know the person. People need to accept nobody has a perfect body. There is really no such thing. She is beautiful inside and out. If people feel the need to judge someone because their looks, they are projecting their own insecurities. It’s always seems easier to project them on someone else than yourself because that is the deeper battle, that most people are not ready for. Scott and Alicia are a beautiful couple not because how either of them look but because that love and connection they have together. The dream team for sure. I admire how she admits her own faults. Most people can’t do that. But she’s as honest as can be. Do not ever let anyone tear you down. Just continue being you. I absolutely love your TikTok videos.

  4. Thin or “fit people” don’t understand that when you truly love someone, you love them for who they are as a person. Body, mind and soul. When you truly love someone you want their happiness more than you want yours. I think you all are perfect for each other. Ignore the haters.

  5. I think your beautiful. I’ve enjoyed watching your TikTok’s. Don’t listen to the trolls and don’t let them bring you down.

  6. People get jealous because they want what you two have
    Love.
He loves you because of your heart and hope you both have another 50 years

  7. Why do people think they have a right to judge others? Maybe it’s time for them to look in the mirror and judge themselves. If 2 people are happy, the only reason other people try to destroy it is because they are jealous. Try working on your own insecurities and maybe you will have a life worth posting about. I wish this beautiful couple nothing but happiness and hope that they continue to show all the jealous haters what a solid, loving and committed relationship is all about. Maybe all of the haters should look, listen and learn!!!
