Jason David Frank, Green Power Ranger, has died at the age of 49

Jason David Frank, who played Green Ranger Tommy Oliver on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, has passed away. He was 49 years old. The news was confirmed by his talent rep, Brian Butler-An, on Instagram.

As a main attraction to the Power Rangers franchise, Jason David Frank was featured in the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series in 1993. Frank played prominent roles in 10 series and four movies throughout the franchise. Although he primarily appeared as the Green Ranger, he would also eventually portray the White, Black, and Red Rangers in a series that has run almost continuously since the ‘90s, with one as recent as this September.

A cause of death has not been revealed, but reports indicate it was suicide.

The Power Rangers have endured a major fan following since 1993, which has never really faded away. The Power Rangers were basically everyone’s favorite characters at that age, and they took on that role during recess. We all argued over who deserved to be the Green Ranger.

In addition to his acting career, Jason David Frank was an accomplished martial artist. A black belt of the 8th degree, Frank was inducted into the Black Belt Hall of Fame. In 2010, he had a short MMA career, winning by submission in all three of his amateur fights.

In a social media post, friend and trainer Mike Bronzoulis said, “Jason was a good friend to me and I will miss him. Love n prayers for his wife Tammy and their kids, I pray that God gets yall through this difficult time.”

Early Career and Life

Jason David Frank was best known for his role as Tommy Oliver in the Power Rangers franchise. He has appeared in over 200 episodes of the show, making him the longest-serving Ranger in the show’s history.

Frank began his acting career in 1993 when he was cast as Tommy Oliver in the original Power Rangers series. He went on to appear in the subsequent series, Power Rangers Zeo, Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie, and In Space. He also reprised his role in the 2017 film reboot of the franchise.

Frank had roles in various television shows and films outside of Power Rangers. He made his debut as a mixed martial artist in 2007 and has since competed in several professional fights.

In 2020, Frank launched his own line of CBD products called JDF Naturals. The line includes tinctures, gummies, and skincare products infused with CBD.

Charity Work and Endorsements

Frank had also been with Make-A-Wish Foundation since 2006, granting over 200 wishes for children with life-threatening illnesses. He also visited hospitals and donates money to various charities. In 2009, he launched his own foundation, Jason David Frank Fighting for Autism, to help families affected by autism. The foundation raises money through donations and merchandise sales and provides grants to families in need.

Frank had endorsements with several businesses, including car dealerships, a fitness app, and a laundry detergent company. He was also an avid collector of cars and motorcycles and had a collection of over 100 vehicles.
