The defamation trial between Johnny Depp and Amber brought many people into the limelight. Johnny’s attorney Camille Vasquez became the most popular among the actor’s die-hard fans.
The trial saw arguments from both sides, but Depp’s firebrand lawyer Camille Vasquez has won people’s hearts with her solid comebacks and bold behavior.
Depp’s fans have been greatly impressed by Vasquez, and she has turned into an Internet sensation for the right reasons. Her popularity has increased to the extent that now people are signing petitions to replace Amber Heard with Camille Vasquez in Aquaman 2.
In the movie, the role of Mera is played by Depp’s ex-wife Amber Heard, although her part has been drastically reduced. While the trial was still under the jury’s deliberation, pro-Johnny Depp supporters started sharing Camille’s photoshopped pictures as “Mera” on the internet to illustrate their suggestion further.
Johnny Depp fans have even started a change.org petition titled “Camille Vasquez to replace Amber Heard in Aquaman.” Currently, this petition has over 1,000 signatures.
Earlier, a petition to remove Amber Heard from Aquaman 2 had gained massive momentum on Twitter. This petition gained more than two million signatures on social media.
It stated, “Warner Brothers and DC Entertainment should remove Heard from their Aquaman sequel. They must not ignore the suffering of her victims and must not glamorize a domestic abuser.”
The petition strongly emphasized that men can also be victims of domestic abuse just as women, and this must be recognized. Also, actions must be taken to prevent a known abuser from being celebrated within the entertainment industry. Hence, the demand to remove Heard from the upcoming DC film.
In the petition, Keenan stated:
“Although Amber is a ‘credible’ actress and has demonstrated it on several occasions, not just in films or ‘perhaps’ on the stand. If Camille is half the actor she is as a lawyer, this will be an absolute blockbuster of a film.”
Camille Vasquez is not an actress, so there’s no chance of her being in the movie. Previously, fans had been rooting for Emilia Clarke to take the role of Mera. After Warner Bros executive Walter Hamada’s stated that Amber Heard had no natural chemistry with co-star Jason Momoa in Aquaman 2 and that they had to fabricate it, people started to criticize Amber even more.
Many fans believe that Emilia Clarke would be a perfect fit for the character, given that she had excellent chemistry with Jason Momoa in Game of Thrones and people loved their on-screen couple so much.
Some even suggested that Blake Lively would also be an excellent choice for this role. But despite all these petitions and social media hashtags, there has been no indication of Heard being removed from the movie.
