Jon Gosselin Compares Kate to Ruby Franke, Calls for Accountability

Jon Gosselin compared his ex-wife Kate Gosselin to Ruby Franke, the former family vlogger now serving a prison sentence for aggravated child abuse. He made the comparison on Tuesday’s episode of the “Legally Goff” podcast, according to Page Six, and went further. He said Kate should be in jail.

Franke was sentenced in 2024 to 4 to 30 years in prison. Page Six reported that two of her children were held in what a Washington County Attorney’s Office case summary called a work-camp-like setting, regularly denied food, water and beds. She is held at the Utah State Correctional Facility in Salt Lake City.

Jon set that case beside his own family. On the podcast, he argued that Franke did less than what their son describes in his new memoir, and still went to prison for a long time. He asked why it should be different for celebrities.

Kate has not answered. A rep for her did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

He Calls for Accountability Over Alleged Abuse

Timing explains a lot here. Jon Gosselin compared his ex-wife Kate to Ruby Franke during a podcast. Collin, one of the sextuplets, recently published a memoir titled “In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood. In it, he accuses his mother of abuse. Jon Gosselin claimed Kate should be locked up for alleged abuse against their son Collin.

Jon told the podcast that, in his view, the person he called the abuser still walks free, and that he finds it awful. He also said he is working with attorneys to possibly build a case against his ex-wife.

Possibly. That word is doing real work. Jon has not said what kind of case, or whether anything has been filed.

Jon Reveals His Heartbreaking Alienation from His Daughters

Then the conversation turned to the children he does not see. Jon, 49, said he would not recognize his eldest daughters, who are twins, if he walked past them on the street. He described being an active, every-day parent one day and cut out of their lives the next. He said he has never heard their voices since.

He does not ask for much. Any response would do, he said. A text. A message. Even an insult.

“Walking around for 13 years not knowing has pretty much eaten my soul away,” Jon said.

Thirteen years is long enough for a child to become an adult with a face her father cannot place. Estrangement inside a family rarely runs in one clean direction. Each side usually holds a version of events the other does not accept, and silence becomes the only thing both of them can agree on. Jon calls what happened alienation. His daughters have not said what they call it, and nothing in the reporting suggests they intend to.

What stands out is how the two halves of his podcast appearance pull against each other. In one breath he is calling for his ex-wife to be locked up. In the next he is asking the children she raised to send him a single text. Public accusations and private reconciliation rarely move in the same direction, and Jon is attempting both at once, on a microphone.

Jon Gosselin has made his position plain. Kate has said nothing in response, the twins have said nothing to him, and the possible legal case has no shape yet. For now, the only voice in this story is his.
