Justin Bieber Says He’s Suffering From Ramsay Hunt Syndrome

Justin Bieber, the Canadian singer, announced he has postponed his upcoming concerts as a result of facial paralysis.

On Friday, Bieber said he had Ramsay Hunt syndrome, the cause of his paralysis, in a video posted on Instagram.

It was caused by a virus that attacked his ear and face.

The Mayo Clinic describes Ramsay Hunt syndrome is an infection near an ear of a person who has shingles.

In addition to the painful shingles rash, Ramsay Hunt syndrome can cause facial paralysis and hearing loss in the affected ear,” the Mayo Clinic website said.

Justin Bieber said he has “full paralysis” on one side of his face.

“As you can see this eye is not blinking, I can’t smile on this side of my face, this nostril will not move,” he said in the video.

In response to a “non-COVID related illness,” Bieber had announced that two shows at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto and one in Washington D.C. had been postponed as part of his Justice Tour.

Bieber said in the video Friday that he is “just physically obviously not capable” of appearing in shows.

“This is pretty serious as you can see,” he said. “I wish this wasn’t the case but obviously my body is telling me I’ve got to slow down.”

Bieber said he will use this time to “rest and relax and get back to 100 percent.”

According to him, he is doing facial exercises in order to “get my face back to normal,” adding that it “will go back to normal.”

“I love you guys,” he said. “Thanks for being patient with me.”
