La La Anthony and Carmelo Anthony are officially divorced. On Nov. 4, the former couple were granted a certificate of dissolution after each signed affidavits agreeing to the terms, according to court documents obtained by E! News.

She filed back in 2021, so the process ran more than five years.

La La Anthony and Carmelo Finalize Their Divorce After 11 Years

Back in June 2021, La La Anthony filed, citing irreconcilable differences, after 11 years of marriage. Just Jared, citing TMZ, reported that the pair, now 44 and 42, had told the court they had reached a settlement. The terms were not made public, and at that stage a judge had not yet signed off. E! News now reports the dissolution was granted on Nov. 4.

Child support never became a fight. Their son turned 18 before the divorce was finalized, which E! News noted made the question moot. A qualified medical child support order is still listed as pending on the documents. Orders like that typically keep a child enrolled on a parent’s health plan.

Carmelo, the retired NBA all-star, started it all in 2003 when he asked mutual friend DJ Clue to introduce him to La La. They married in 2010 on their reality show, La La’s Full Court Wedding. They first split in 2017 and briefly reconciled in 2018, so the marriage had been strained for years before the divorce was finalized.

Twenty-two years from introduction to paperwork. The last five were spent waiting on a signature.

Public Scrutiny Cited as a Factor in Their Split

La La Anthony has been open about where she thinks things went wrong. On Call Her Daddy in 2022, she pointed to the years they lived in New York under the full glare of attention, when Carmelo was a Knick and both were Brooklyn hometown names. She described the pressure of the spotlight as really hard, and said things became complicated there. “That was kind of the start of the demise of the marriage,” she said.

Nobody can audit a marriage from the outside, and she did not claim the spotlight was the whole story. But her account is worth taking at face value. A couple under constant observation stops having private arguments. Every rough patch gets a public version, and the public version starts to shape the real one. Repairing something is hard enough without an audience deciding the ending first. She named the city, the years, and the pressure. She did not name a single moment.

Co-Parenting Remains a Priority for the Former Couple

Both have moved on romantically. E! News reports that Carmelo is dating model Racquel Smith, while La La has been linked to actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and entrepreneur Bear Da Prince. Their son has stayed at the center through all of it. When La La filed in 2021, TMZ reported that the pair wanted a private, smooth transition for him and remained “fully aligned as parenting partners.” In 2023, she told E! News that he was the center of everything, and that they wanted to show him his parents love each other and are still a family.

That is a specific goal, and an unusual one. Plenty of divorced parents aim for polite. La La Anthony described something warmer, a family that changed shape without being declared finished. Doing that while the legal side dragged on for five years, with new partners in the picture and the press watching, takes discipline from both people. Neither has spoken publicly about their divorce settlement. Neither has said what the settlement contains.

The certificate is signed. The medical order is still pending.
