The billionaire philanthropist who was previously married to Jeff Bezos, the founder, executive chairman, and CEO of Amazon, is currently going through her second divorce with her partner, Dan Jewett.
According to New York Times, “52-year-old Scott initially filed for divorce from Jewett, 47, on Monday, September 26. The documents state that the exes share a written separation contract, which MacKenzie is asking the court to uphold in their split.”
“The contract will be used to divide their possessions, property, assets, and debts.” Per Us Weekly.
“Jewett, for his part, signed papers on September 19 that say he does not contest the divorce. The division of property has already been determined in a prenuptial agreement.”
In March 2021, Washington Post reported that the richest woman in the world met Seattle teacher Dan Jewett through the school that her four children attended.
The couple tied the knot in a private ceremony attended by her kids and close family members.
“I have been a teacher for the majority of my life, as well as a grateful student of the generosity of those around me,” Jewett wrote on Scott’s Giving Pledge website .
“This has meant doing my best to follow their example by passing on resources of all kinds — from time to energy, to material possessions — when I have had them to give. And now, in a stroke of happy coincidence, I am married to one of the most generous and kind people I know — and joining her in a commitment to pass on an enormous financial wealth to serve others.”
The union occurred two years after her split with former husband, Jeff Bezos, whom she married in 1993 – the former couple stayed together for almost 25 years and shares four children, three sons and one daughter.
“We want to make people aware of a development in our lives. As our family and close friends know, after a long period of loving exploration and trial separation, we have decided to divorce and continue our shared lives as friends,” a joint statement was released on behalf of Scott and Bezos in January 2019.
“We feel incredibly lucky to have found each other and deeply grateful for every one of the years we have been married to each other. If we had known we would separate after 25 years, we would do it all again.”
“We’ve had such a great life together as a married couple, and we also see wonderful futures ahead as parents, friends, partners in ventures and projects, and as individuals pursuing ventures and adventures. Though the labels might be different, we remain a family, and we remain cherished friends.”
A few hours after their divorce announcement, several outlets reported that the former astronaut, computer engineer, and entrepreneur had been dating his friend, Patrick Whitesell’s then-wife, Lauren Sanchez.
Their divorce was eventually finalized in April 2019, a day after Lauren and Patrick filed for their divorce.
