You always want to make sure that you are in a relationship with someone who is deeply devoted and dedicated to making things work with you. You want to be with someone who isn’t afraid of putting in the necessary effort and time that it takes to strengthen a relationship. Because if you have a guy who doesn’t put effort into your relationship, then are you even really in a relationship at all?
It happens way too often and women have got to learn how to stand up for themselves. You should never allow yourself to merely be content with being with a guy who feels like he can just do the bare minimum – and that would be enough. No. You won’t have it. You are always willing to give all of yourself to a relationship and you deserve the same kind of effort from anyone you choose to date. So how do you make sure that you aren’t stuck in those kinds of relationships? Well, there are certain things your man must be doing to make you feel special and loved. And if he fails to do any of these things while in a relationship with you, then he isn’t really your boyfriend.

When you get pretty deep and serious about your relationship, then it’s normal for you to expect your guy to actually introduce you to his friends and family. If he’s keeping you hidden, then he’s doing so for a reason – and it isn’t a good one.
2. Pay attention to you when you talk to him.
One of the most important aspects of quality communication in a relationship is the ability to listen and pay attention. And if he never makes you feel like you’re being heard and listened to then maybe he really isn’t the guy for you.
3. Help you out whenever you ask for it.
On one hand, he should always be able to trust you enough to fend for yourself and fight your own battles. But he should also be a guy who wouldn’t hesitate to step in and help you out whenever you require his assistance. He should genuinely be acting like a real partner.
4. Accompany you to events when you ask him to.
You’re partners for a reason, right? You should want to spend as much quality time with each other as possible. So he has to be a guy who is willing to attend events and parties with you.
5. Open up to you about his thoughts and feelings.
The deeper you get into a relationship with someone, you should become more comfortable with opening up to one another. And it’s always a bad sign if you have a partner who just doesn’t to share what’s on his mind.
6. Stay loyal to you no matter what.
Loyalty and commitment are non-negotiables in any serious relationships. And if he can’t give any of these things to you, then he’s not really your man.
7. Do whatever he can to make your life easier.
A genuine boyfriend would always be willing to go extra mile for his girl. He should always be willing to do whatever he can to make your life easier. For instance, he could run chores and errands for you just to take some things off your plate.
8. Discuss the future of the relationship with you.
Of course, you want to know that your relationship is actually headed somewhere. And you can only ever really be sure that your relationship has a future if the two of you talk about it. Be careful if you have a guy who doesn’t want to talk about the future.
9. Be honest with you about absolutely anything.
Honesty is an absolute imperative in any modern relationship. When a relationship is built on lies, then that means that there is no trust and respect between these two people. So be very wary of having a boyfriend who just lies to you.
10. Try his best to meet your needs and expectations.
Naturally, you are going to have your share of needs and expectations in your relationship. And your boyfriend should understand that about you and he should be doing his best to meet them.
11. Give you a sense of security and confidence in him.
He should always be able to make you feel like you can rely on him to be there for you. He must always give you that sense of confidence in life that you get when you have someone who pushes and motivates you to find success in life.
